Upon learning of her pregnancy in May 2017, Walsh created a video of herself crying. The video was not spontaneous documentation of distress. Walsh sent the video to a friend identified as "Z" with a request for feedback on the performance. A professional connected to the case later described the video as "one of the creepiest things I ever saw," noting Walsh alternated between "dark determination" and full sobs.

After receiving feedback, Walsh sent an edited version of the video to Russell accompanied by a text message presenting the distress as authentic: "I said I love you this morning bc my period is 5 days late which means I might be pregnant AGAIN... I don't want to be pregnant, and I can't even get myself to take a test. This is YOUR fault if I am."

The sequence documented in discovery: (1) create video, (2) solicit feedback from third party, (3) edit video, (4) deploy edited version as authentic emotion to Russell. This is the structure of fabrication.

Visual artifact: Screenshot of Walsh's text to "Z" requesting feedback on the video is preserved in the SLE image archive (sle_archive/FakeCrying.svg, sle_archive/0D6A1C6F-9C1C-44D3-A2D6-E028FCA9BFD6.jpeg).
