## Rough Transcript (Steve Russell's contemporaneous notes, emailed to attorney July 29, 2018)

### Uber 1
- Inaudible

### Uber 3

**Mom [Maura Walsh] on Phone:**

- What am I supposed to do?
- The father has filed a petition... so just let me out and I'll figure out what to do.
- I am going to let you off somewhere safe. Driver says... you are not going to be arrested.
- What would happen if police are there?
- Evie is not a resident of CA.
- I am calm I am collected. He said they are going to arrest me. I don't know what to do.
- Steve doesn't even care about the baby.
- Mom you are really stressing me out, you are not helping me.
- Steve I have had enough of being upset. Please let me have a break. I need a break. I am going straight to my parents house.

**Bryan [Crutcher]** says he is not going to stop Tara, he's just there for baby.

**Tara:** What are we supposed to do? We are going to return to OUR HOME. We live in NY. I don't know if the police will stop me. Evie is not a resident of CA, we live in NY. Please don't do this. You've done so much harm to me and the baby. I can't be around your security people that harass me.

- If I come back there. You are. Bully and you have money. If you really want me to come back I will, but I can't have your people harass me. I need a break. You are hurtful and manipulative. And I just want to not engage with you any more. You are a bully. You are a bad person. The truth will come out.

- Why can't I just go home? (Repeated a few times.)

- You are a bully Bryan.

- You know Steve is psychotic.

**Bryan:** Just looking out for Evie.

**Tara:**
- Steve has a lot of money, so I feel I have no choice.

**Driver:** We aren't listening to what he says? I do know a lot about this... you got to be served first of all. You haven't even seen it.

- I am not nursing her... well I started to kind of nurse her.
- He's just been trying to break down my character and brand me as an unfit mother.

**Bryan:** He's not trying to take the baby.

**Tara** says... I finally saved enough money that I can go back to NY.

*[Steve's note: This must be the 30k she asked for for Taxes]*

### Uber 4

- Driver coaches Tara not to say she has mental health issues because someone could take her baby.
- Driver gives legal advice on how to get through airport and deal with being served. Bryan interjects.

**Calls Dad [Steve Walsh Sr.]**

- Cops will arrest me for poisoning Steve. But it's Seroquel cause Steve is psychotic.

*[Steve's note: Bryan don't use word poison. Decent example of how Tara manipulates family etc.]*

- Uber driver calls to cop. And is told to go to front counter.

**Bryan** says "we have a child custody issue here."

**Tara** says she is unstable because of stress of living with Steve.

- I tried to "be brave and leave."
- If I go back I am going to be manipulated by Steve again.
- I didn't want relationship to be over. He's given me no choice, I have to leave because it's torture to be in same city if he's not in a relationship with me.
- I guess I have no choice... the security guy says they might arrest me for poisoning Steve.
- **Ok Dad I will go home.**

## Key Evidential Observations

1. **Tara admits poisoning on tape:** "Cops will arrest me for poisoning Steve. But it's Seroquel cause Steve is psychotic." She knows what she did. She frames it as justified.

2. **Walsh Sr. directs the outcome:** "Ok Dad I will go home." — The decision to abort the kidnapping comes from Steve Walsh Sr., not from Tara. He is directing the operation.

3. **The driver as uninvited counsel:** The Uber driver coaches Tara on legal strategy — don't mention mental health, here's how to deal with being served. Steve described her as "inserting herself unhelpfully like so many in this story."

4. **Bryan Crutcher's restraint:** Crutcher repeatedly clarifies he's not trying to stop Tara, just looking out for Evie. Tara calls him a bully. He says "He's not trying to take the baby."

5. **Maura Walsh on the phone:** Stressing Tara out. Tara tells her "Mom you are really stressing me out, you are not helping me." The family coordination is live.

6. **The $30K:** Tara says she "finally saved enough money" to go back to NY. Steve's note connects this to money she requested for taxes — implying the money was always for fleeing.

7. **Steve's earlier note about the transcript:** "Steve Walsh seemed like a normal dad giving reasonable advice to just go home and stop running." This is the "Ok Dad I will go home" moment. Walsh Sr. sounds calm and reasonable. But the context is: his daughter just admitted to poisoning her partner, and his "reasonable advice" is to come home — not to stop, not to get help, but to return to the family compound where the institutional protection apparatus will engage.
